Goloom metasearch

Goloom MetaSearch I've discovered Xoops, a Content Management System (CMS), in 2005. This changed my way of developping websites. No more dozen of hours redevelopping from scratch all things that have already been done. With Xoops I can concentrate more on the functionalities of the website by adding some missing features etc...

Goloom.com is my second project under Xoops. The first one was Qmel.com, a free email provider. The project is down because shared hosting providers are not good enough to provide unlimited email accounts. With Qmel I started to develop some Xoops modules: Weather and Guestbook.

 

I started Goloom.com because I've finished my SnX_Metasearch modules for Xoops. With this module, I can turn a Xoops powered website into a Meta Search engine submitting it requests to 4 external search engines: Google, Yahoo, Altavista and Lycos. Its own internal algorithm calculates the pertinence of each results and order it in consequence. Goloom Meta-Search also includes module that allows me to add some white label mini shops and a module that propose the visitors to browse my collection of Karaoke files (.kar format), read the lyrics embeded, listen and download thoses files.

A money making system had been setup with Adsense and Allopass. This allows me to maintain my dedicated server alive for those projects.

Now, Goloom.com also include a free hardlinked website directory. I use an existing Xoops module that I've contributed by submitting my modifications. One of them is the automated hardlinks to redirected links converter using Javascript. This allows Google to see only hardlinks and visitors to get redirected by a PHP script that also counts the clicks.

In addition, I've convert the DWODP script into a Xoops Module, this allows to integrate DMOZ directory to a Xoops powered website.

A lot of work have been done on Goloom.com referencing with search engines. And surprisingly, the most effective is the Karaoke Modules that brings a lot of visitors from differents search engines and directories.
